Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) is an exceptionally soft (24–30 microns), high luster longwool. The silky fiber drafts easily, making this a good fiber for new spinners. Perfect for lace shawls or any next-to-skin garments where you want soft, drapey fabric... but because the fiber resists pilling, it's also good for socks, mittens, or other garments that get a bit of wear. Also needle-felts beautifully. Retains its shine when dyed.

We sell this fiber in collaboration with the flock owners at Savvy Dog Ranch. 50% of the profits go to the Oregon Humane Society.

Hendy says: I found Savvy Dog Ranch when looking for an agility trainer for my Leonberger, Beeble. Eric is one of the best dog trainers I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. When he acquired his flock of BFL sheep to use for herding practice, I asked, "What are you going to do with the wool?" "Um... I dunno." I made a gimme-hands gesture, and that led to our collaboration to support the Oregon Humane Society.
