Our Services
We offer small-batch processing for wool, alpaca, mohair, cashmere, and exotic fibers like chiengora (that's dog hair for the non-fancy folks) and qiviut. No minimum weight requirement (2 lb min. charge per fleece).

Scouring/Washing
Your fiber goes through a gentle but thorough soak and rinse process to remove dirt and lanolin/oils. We use Unicorn Power Scour and will run your fiber as many times as it takes to come clean.
Note that scouring does not remove straw, wood chips, seeds, or other vegetable matter.

$12/lb for all fiber types

Separating (vm/hair)
An essential step for pygora and other double-coated fibers, the separation process allows coarser and heavier material to drop out, leaving you with a cloud of fiber. Removes up to 90-95% of vegetable matter and hair.

$14/lb for sheep
$16/lb for camelids (no 2nds)
$18 for goats and exotics

Carding
The carding process produces a roughly 1" diameter roving in either a loose bundle or in a log-shaped bump. Want stripes or spots? We can do that - see Blending.

$15/lb for sheep
$18/lb for others
Add $2/lb for measured bumps
Add $3/lb for heavily-dyed fiber
Add $5/lb for matted fiber

Blending
Sometimes you need to blend fibers to make a spinnable roving. Sometimes you just want to play with different fiber types, colors, or add some sparkle.
(Note: we do not provide fiber for blending; bring us everything you want in your mix.)
Blending recommendations:
-
Cashmere/mohair - 10-20% wool
-
Angora bunny - min 50% wool
-
Dog - min 25% wool
-
Silk/bamboo/tencel/other "slippy stuff" - min 80% wool

Add $5/lb to carding

Draw Frame
Want to combine rovings? Do you prefer pencil roving? Our draw frame blends multiple carded rovings into one fiber stream, further aligning the carded fibers and making a single stronger, consistent roving of uniform size. This step is required for yarn production on our spinning frame.

$14/lb

Spinning
Our 8-head spinning frame will be coming online in 2026. In the meantime, we can provide hand spinning services on a per-project basis.

How to Save Money on Processing
We charge per pound for processing based on intake weight. Following these tips will have you bringing us more fleece and less waste at intake.
-
Skirt your fleece. Be aggressive in removing kemp, less-than-optimal leg and belly fiber, poop tags, second cuts, and large vegetable matter.
-
We can skirt your fleece for you for an additional $35 per fleece.
-
-
Tumble your alpaca/llama fleeces to shake out the dirt.
-
Want to do your own scouring? It's easy if you have a top-load washer. Just follow these instructions (courtesy of our friends at Rodger Family Farm). Lanolin is heavy and can make up 25-35% of the weight of a fleece.
-
Note: we only accept fleeces scoured with Power Scour.
-
We reserve the right to say, "It isn't clean enough for our equipment."
